One of my main beliefs about stock design is very intricate, complicated occupied ideas work best in very small doses. This may seem counterintuitive, given that generally the concept of scale should match the scale of the canvas, but this theory has proven true my baby again and again. The only Marc Jacobs Studded Python version in the same way with drawings by Marc Jacobs Stam are just the latest example.

When I saw this look on the greater Stam, I was totally disappointed. I like the combination of red and black for many reasons, not least because it is the color scheme of my alma mater (Go Dawgs!) And I’d like a bag of calcium necessary for one of my favorite designers. On Stam, however, the combination of printed python, more colors, quilting and studs was the way too.

In the single, all elements are distilled down into a fussy part that is just the right size for occasional consumption. I always thought this smaller version of the single was the perfect size for an evening – you’ll keep my keys and phone without swelling, but it’s big enough to look like I forgot to switch my first bag I left the house. When you combine that with all the intricate elements and a color scheme that would be easy to wear with lots of evening dresses, you have a very special little bag indeed. The best part, though, is the same with all the other bags only – the price quite reasonable. Buy through Bergdorf Goodman for $ 595.
